The BNSF Seligman Sub Photo Gallery

Topock  MP 565.5

Aughh, clouds.  I was using a roll of
100 speed Provia, and knew every
shot I took of a train was going to
suffer.  I grabbed this shot of the
ominous geological formations in
the area with my digital camera.

Sure enough, about 10 shots
before this one were poor due
to the 100 speed film.  Now
loaded with Provia 400, I was
able to get some acceptable
shots.

One of the best lashups included
an ex-CNW leaser, and a mix
of other EMD's, with 3 CSX
engines trailing.

Into California  MP 566.3

The Colorado River marks the
border, and the bridge crossing
it was constructed in 1945 was the
third one built by the AT&SF.

While likely not native to this
location, the Palm Trees around
this Colorado River resort seem
to be doing pretty well.  It's just
another reminder of the climatic
& scenic diversity on The
Seligman Subdivision.

Further west  MP 567

As I was just about to depart, the road
leading to Interstate 40 revealed this
barren landscape looking west.
Suddenly the detector at MP 571.2
indicated an eastbound.  I would only
have time for photos.

That last train was pretty nice, I thought.  Why not wait
and catch another one on video?  Eight minutes later, the
detector at 571.2 went off for track one and track 2.
As no westbounds had passed recently, I was thrilled to
realize what was coming.

Kingman Canyon  MP 519.6

It's no wonder Kingman Canyon is one of the most
popular locations on the Seligman.  Ease of access,
lots of angles to work with, and great scenery all
play a part.  This is the same train that was being
passed in the last sequence.  It ended up being
passed by at least 2 other eastbounds before
catching up to me.

I had packed up the videocamera, and was ready to depart
when the whine of dynamic brakes from another westbound
alerted me.  This train sported an all EMD lashup, including
"A" and "B" versions of the GP60.

I was stocking up with supplies for the next
day at the grocery store near my hotel room.
The sound of an eastbound greeted me as I
stepped out of the car.  Why not take a "grab"
shot with my digital?  I was happy with the
results.
