Bummer... The wonderful forested area west
of Flagstaff, was looked forward to so much,
and it was cloudy.  As I mentioned on the 14th,
I ended up regretting my location decision for
that day.  The reason was that the Sun would
rarely shine in this area for the remainder of my
stay.  How I wish I had spent the 14th in this
area instead.  Ahhh, nothing like hindsight!

Well a little sunlight on the hills made me feel
a bit better, and of course the parade of
trains also helped.

With track 2 closed west of West Williams Jct.
due to track work, this train would come to a
stop in front of me.  3 eastbounds which would
cross over from track 1 to 2 at E. Williams Jct.
would roll by before it continued west.

Deeper into the forest, and the action
was decent, but the Sun only made
brief appearances.  I guess I should
be happy there was no rain.

I had a roll of 100 speed film in the camera,
so few of my shots were acceptable.  These
two westbounds just barely made it.  The
going away shot of the manifest with a
quintet of C44-9W's was pretty decent.

I was a bit frustrated.  Not just because of the weather conditions, but because a roll
of film in my camera had to be trashed earlier due to it getting stuck.  (It wouldn't
rewind).  It was a roll of 400 that I had partially used previously, and then removed
when lighting conditions had improved.  Everything was going well, and I had
successfully advanced it to it's unused portion, but this time it just didn't work when it
came to the end.  My mind wasn't working right either, and I finally decided to open
the camera and pull it out so that I could continue taking photos.  A little bit of
ingenuity, and I likely could've improvised a darkroom and saved the film.
This train would meet a westbound in a few moments, and despite the fact I knew
another was coming, I called it a day.  I was also somewhat motivated by the idea of
kicking back at my hotel room and watching game 5 of the ALCS.
