I awoke at the Holiday Inn, Flagstaff and looked out the window
moments after daylight.  Heavy clouds were over me, and weather
reports said rain was falling not too far to the west.  However a look
to the east revealed breaks in the clouds in the distance.  Determined
not to spend another day in weather not friendly for photography,
I decided I would head east despite the fact I had already covered
this area.  The results of sunlit trains with dark skies in the
background tell me I made the right choice.

This eastbound was 15 minutes after the
previous train, and was the fourth in
less than an hour.  Behind me, a westbound
has stopped, and will cross over to track 2
when this train clears.

Oooh... This engine looked so good still in its
Warbonnet paint scheme.  It also has the
distinction of being the lowest numbered engine
on BNSF's roster!
The train was moving so slow that I
photographed it once, and then drove ahead
about 2/10th's of a mile for a second shot.

Three more eastbounds, and one westbound within a
half hour!  Clearly I must be in Railfan Paradise.  Three
of the four trains are seen in this sequence.

The train seen at E. Darling had stopped to
let some other traffic pass it, so I took the
opportunity for a second catch, this time
splitting the signal bridge at Cosnino.

Deciding to find a spot that I hadn't already covered, I
headed east just a bit.  The spot worked great for
westbounds, but this back-lit eastbound came out OK.

Three westbounds and another eastbound
within 36 minutes.  A Railfan can sure get
spoiled out here.  The westbounds are seen
in this sequence.

What's this?... the clouds had retreated a bit further west
and I spent the rest of the afternoon here.  Some great
action included a meet with both trains running on the
opposite track they normally do (thank goodness), and
the always entertaining local freight with a trio of SD40-2's.
It was now time to sacrifice a few trains and get to my
hotel room early.  Game 7 of the ALCS was on!
