One again I awoke to find clouds over Flagstaff.  This time it
looked like they were also covering the area I was at on the 20th.
Even further to the east however, there was some brightness
in the sky, and I decided I would make my first visit to the famous
Canyon Diablo steel arch bridge.

The Sun was shining, but the wind was fierce.
gusts around 50MPH had me in a very
uncomfortable situation as I walked near the
canyon walls trying to get some decent photos.
The videocamera remained with the car.

As I drove back to the highway on the brutal dirt road,
a look in my rear view showed a westbound "Z" train
making its way across the desolate landscape.
At this point I had every intention of exploring Winslow
as long as I had the sunlight.  What I didn't count on was
a sandstorm that reduced visibility as I drove east.  There
was no way I, or my camera gear was going outside in
this, so I retreated back to Flagstaff

Much less wind, no rain, and suddenly the clouds
didn't seem so bad.  Several trains were seen here
including a few I had seen at Canyon Diablo.

A few more trains were seen here.  This would be the last.  Moments
after it passed, the skies opened up.  This was my last day anyhow,
and considering I had avoided rain up to this point was a pretty good
timing.  I returned the rental car which also through a stroke of good
timing was quickly washed clean of 9 days of dust!  Back at my hotel
room I watched the BNSF parade continue, and as the daylight faded,
I also watched the rain change over to snow.  For the record, you may
remember I was kicked out from the first spot I visited on the 13th, and
was very concerned about what lay ahead.  Well I am pleased to say
that I encountered no other problems.  After 9 days, no doubt some
BNSF crews had become used to seeing me standing trackside!
